Realistic Eye

I did it again! Yay! I have another tutorial for you all! I worked on it for 3 days and stayed up really late to finish it but now its done! I hope you all like it! Here’s what you’ll be drawing if you read the tutorial.

This is the first time I drew and eyebrow like that, like in individual strands. I usually draw the entire thing in one color then smudge it. What do you think of it?

I’m pretty proud of this drawing and of the tutorial. Basically for this tutorial I took what I learned by watching Stephanie Valenin’s tutorial on how to draw an eye and added some stuff.

Drawing Realistic Clothes

One of the things I’ve always found hard to do was painting clothes. Drawing clothes in general really and ever since I started digital painting and drawing realistically, I found myself avoiding clothes. For example I would draw portraits and focus more on the face rather then the body and clothes. Well my good people that has changed!

I found a free ebook online that shows you how to draw like the pros in photoshop. I have read over a few times and I think I’m getting better.  I read it a while back and I didn’t really understand it and when I read it this time around, I understood it a little better but I accidentally ventured away from it kind of haha

Here are my attempts!

Attempt #1:

This is the first time I ever tried drawing realistic clothing by following the directions. I just thought where the shadows and the highlights of the woman’s body would be and I just used that as a guide. I just drew in where her body was and her hair just to give her form, I really wanted to just concentrate on the dress.

Attempt #2:

I’ve realized that a problem I have with drawing realistically, I tend to zoom in on a certain spot and work on it so much to make it realistic that when I zoom out, it looks out of place. That’s what I think happened with the folds on the red dress around where her leg is pushing the fabric, in the middle of the train.  I know that all I have to do to fix it is just bring the rest of the drawing up to speed with that area but I find that challenging. I prefer to keep all my work on the same page but sometimes I get ahead of myself. That’s ok though; I’ll get better at this some day haha.

Hey everyone, so I’ve been trying to find tutorials online on how to draw realistically. I found some really good stuff but for some reason I couldn’t stick to them. I don’t know, I’m weird I guess haha but I remembered I subscribed to this one chick on Youtube named Stephanie Valentin and man is she good at painting!

Stephanie Valentin does speed drawings on Youtube and she writes her own music. The music is amazing! She plays violin and it sounds beautiful in her videos.

Stephanie’s method of drawing is different from what I’ve come across on the internet; it’s a unique way of getting that realistic look in her drawings. Basically what she does is draw the outline of whatever she’s drawing and she blurs the crap out of it, goes back to redefine it, then blurs it again and keeps with that until she gets what she wants. This is brilliant I must say. I took a look at a few of her tutorials and I really improved with my art. Check out what I made!

I’ve added some piercings to spice up the drawings! The nose and the hands weren’t part of her collection of tutorials but I needed more to make this collage and I could really use some more practice with hands! haha

Anyway, Stephanie Valentin is an amazing artists and one of my favorites. Check her out sometime and her tutorials. The eye tutorial I watched explained how to draw but didn’t go into how to draw the iris very well. However, I was able to watch her do it and figure it out. =) So with that said I will be making an iris tutorial and will be posting it soon.
