So I’ve uploaded two videos since my last post. The first one was just a fun tag video a friend of mine tagged me in and it took me like two weeks just to edit and export….stupid computer…. but it’s the only one I got so…. LOVE YOU COMPUTER!! lol

Anyway, here’s the video. =) If you find it fun, I highly recommend you answer the question and make a video for youtube! It’s a good way to get into the motion of making videos if that’s something you want to do. =) The question for this video is basically what are 7 Fictional things you wish were real. And you just list the 7 things and  go into detail if you want lol

Ok onto the next subject and the subject the title of this post suggests.

Kinetic Typogrpahy!

Now if you don’t know what that is, it’s basically words moving around on screen in snyc to audio. Most of the time the audio is music but there are plenty of videos on youtube where the audio are the lines to a movie scene. If you look it up on youtube, you’ll see a lot of good stuff. =)

If you already know what kinetic typography is and if you’re looking to do it, I’ll give you some tips.

Kinetic Typography TIPS

• Use After Effects – Use After Effects or a program like it…I think some people made kinetic typography videos in Sony Vegas. I’ve tried to use Photoshop and Flash but neither really give you the flow and 3D effects as After Effects or a program like it. You can try using Photoshop or Flash or something like it but I’m gonna warn you now and tell you it’ll be a pain in the butt…there are close to no tutorials out there for doing it in those programs and you’re going to have to be pretty clever to do it in those programs

• If you’re using  After Effects, use the parenting tool!! - if you don’t know what the parenting tool in after effects is, it’ look like this:

You can either use the drop down menu under  ”parent” (highlighted, far right) and link that layer to another or you can use the twirl next to the drop down menu and drag it to the layer you want to link.

What the parent tool does is link layers together. So you can see in the photo above I have the layers labled “my” and “heart” to “fall” so that when I animate the three of them to zoom in, they do it all together. So by parenting, I can just move the layer “fall” and the other two moves with it! It saves ALOT of time! I LOVE the parent tool!!! lol

I’ve been MIA everywhere – here, facebook, youtube, deviant art….I just haven’t been on my computer much and I”m not quiet sure why. Probably because the holiday season just kept me somewhat busy with the shopping, the decorating and the family. Phew…tiring! Plus I’ve been surfing the web on my ipod so really there wasn’t much use for my computer since I mostly just use my computer for blog posts and art stuff and I just haven’t been in the mood to do anything. =/

So here’s my first work of the new year!

I just uploaded the time lapse video for it on Youtube and I got a few comments from friends and I more views from people who didn’t leave comments but whenever I upload a video, I just get on this Youtube high! I watch videos that inspire me to try new things with my videos and I just get so hyper and happy!

I want to make a new video right now! A none art video – maybe another one with me in it like a skit but I don’t know what! I’ll have to think of some ideas but I’m sooo hyped right now! I watched Micheal Buckley – he’s a introbang! xD And I watched Micheal and Goeff from Roosterteeth do some stuff in Saints Row The 3rd – love that pairing! Two of the funniest guys ever!!!

I got some projects I still need to finish and a friend of mine and I are about to start a new one! haha You can’t help when ideas just come to you! But I need to work on finishing project before starting new ones! lol

Let me talk a little bit about this painting though.

I did this in acrylic paint on drawing paper, it’s 18 inches by 24 inches in real life but this one I uploaded is more like 6 by 8 or something so it can fit on the site.

I don’t know how other people paint, and I’m not sure if you can really tell what I do in the video, but I blended the paint with my fingers as if it were oil pastel or graphite or hell, makeup lol! Acrylic paint dries really fast, so once I put the color down – I just dabbed it on – and then I smudged it with my finger. It looks a bit rough when it dries but overall, I’d say it looks pretty well blended. I never did that before, it was just a spur of the moment kind of thing. I hardly ever paint. I can literally remember and can name all the traditional paintings I’ve done because there were so few. I did this one, last year I did a painting of Spawn for my brother (which I forgot to take a picture of. Next time I”m at his house, I’ll get a pic of it and upload it.) And one of a character of mine named Jared I did for my Studio Art class in high school.

I’ve only ever painted in acrylics – I don’t really know why lol What your favorite kind of paint to work with? I really don’t know paint that well so what’s the best and worst in your opinion? Do you know any good blending techniques?

Now don’t let me hog the lime light – how are all of you? How was everyone’s holiday? What have you been working on? =) I hope everyone had a happy holiday and is having a happy new year! ^.^

So I’m suppose to be working on an animation for Youtube but I keep putting it off…not because it’s not fun, I just find After Effects tutorials rreeaally boring (no offense to those who made After Effects tutorials, I think it’s just all the animation lingo lol idk) I actually find it really fun, I just need to learn a certain method of animation and I just keep putting it off lol So in my procrastination, I started retouching some photos I found on devinatART. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I found out how much I LOVE retouching photos!!! <3

I retouched about 6 photos in 1 day because I found it to be so much fun! haha A while ago I made a new page for my site so I can offer some services to others. I finally got it up and running! =)

The services are cartoon images, photo retouches, and video intros. I have more then enough sample for cartoon images I’ve done and I’m getting more and more photo retouching sampled. The only thing is that I’ve only done a few video intros but it’s easier creating those when someone asks me to make one then just coming up with one on my own. So I’d like to get more experience doing that. =)

Today I finished and published a new video! Happy Halloween! haha I love Micheal Buckley from the What The Buck show and someone requested I draw Tobuscus….I watched him in some Jackfilms videos and I got a chance to see some of his videos and he’s pretty cool. =) Sooo I drew him and Buck!

What I just figured out is something about ASPECT RATIOS.  

For the longest time, I’ve been wanting to make HD videos for Youtube but whenever I tired to make a HD video, my computer would slow down whenever I edited them. It drove me crazy! So until I get a faster computer, I decided to lay off HD and just try standard. But the thing about standarded was that, on youtube, I couldn’t figure out how to record and get my video to fill up the entire video area. It drove me crazy!

Soooo I finally read up about Aspect Ratios, something I learned about in my English Film class but I guess I never really understood it until now haha

I knew to record widescreen and get HD for youtube was to record 1280×720.Indeed that’s what you have to record at to get HD but you don’t have to record at just that to get widescreen – which is what I wanted. Again, I’m sorry if I seem super slow for just figured this out but hey, no one told me! Everywhere I looked, everyone…..EVERYONE said to just record at 1270×720. UGH! I can’t record that on my computer, not if I just want to record my painting and not my entire screen. I thought that meant every other artist changed their viewing screen for Photoshop to full screen where you can’t see any of your brushes or layers which I need to see, I don’t know about anyone else but I can’t paint at full screen.

So I figured out to look at what the aspect ratio was for widescreen. It’s such a simple fix! Anyone remember learning fractions in like…what was it….the 3rd…4th grade?  Remember how you said you’d never ever use fractions? Well I used it today!!

In case there are anyone reading this that doesn’t know, fractions or ratios are basically they’re the same thing. Ratios are sort of just fractions but flipped on the side! haha So the way I figured out what to set my dimensions to record with on my computer, I took 16:9, which is the aspect ratio for widescreen, and made it into 16/9. Then I just times both numbers by 59 and I got  944/531. And that works for widescreen! Yay! I might make it smaller but I haven’t decided yet hahaha

So remember kids….math is good to know in the future.

I looked at some other random After Effects tutorials but I guess it’s because I”m a newbie but they are kinda hard!  I couldn’t really understand them. I wasn’t sure if people were using CS5 but I know Photoshop CS5 isn’t that different then Photoshop CS4 so I guess if its the same deal with After Effects, it wouldn’t really matter that much if they were using CS5 or CS4 (I have CS4). Yet I still couldn’t follow completely. When I followed this Harry Potter tutorial, however, I was able to learn some things that were in previous tutorials but I was too much of a newbie to figure out what was happening! haha

But I think the biggest thing that threw me off most of the tutorials was the fact that they used downloaded plugins and Idk, I’m just not very much into downloading plugins. Whenever a Photoshop tutorial useing plugins or downloaded brushses, I’m usually able to improvise but since I know little to nothing about After Effects, I had to resort to giving up lol

OMG, After Effects is such a WONDERFUL program though! There’s so much potential for awesome videos! I’m so excited about having it and I really want to learn more! But one problem…

WHY DO AFTER EFFECTS TUTORIALS HAVE TO BE SO BORING?!?!?!

No offense to anyone who made any After Effects tutorials, I don’t think it’s the way people make the tutorials, I think I just zone out when people talk about film type stuff like camera sizes or…idk lol I took a film english class once and I fell alseep almost whenever my teacher started to talk lol maybe he’s to blame for my lack of ability to pay attention because he was rather boring…but I think it’s mostly there’s just something about talking about films that just bore me haha which SUCKS because I love the art of film!!

I’m not sure if I made ANY sense just now lol but I’ll end it here and with the video tutorial I was able to follow for the Harry Potter Opening! lol Enjoy!

Ok so not really two NEW tutorials. One I posted on Youtube a while ago but I forgot to put it on my tutorial page so sorry about that! However, I updated it and added TWO tutorials!

The first one is an Animated Walk Tutorial using the Photoshop animation window. The Photoshop animation feature isn’t very well known and you can’t do much in it but I thought I would make a tutorial on how to use the features and make a simple animation using the feature.

The next tutorial is based off of a makeup guru on Youtube made. Audfaced is a wonderful special effects makeup artist and a great inspiration!

My previous post mentioned some of her tutorials and sense it’s almost Halloween, I thought some of her horror looks might inspire some creativity for this year! =)

Anyway, my favorite tutorial by her is her Left 4 Dead Witch tutorial. It’s amazing! I watched it several times – not including the ammount of times I watched it while working on my newest photo manipulation! haha She is a great artist! And not only does her creative makeup looks inspire me but her wonderful video editing!

Here’s what Audfaced created in her tutorial and the photo manipulation you’ll be making if you watch my video tutorial.

Audfaced was also nice enough to let me use the audio from her tutorial in my video! So this is a new type of Photoshop tutorial! I’m not doing a voice over explaining how to create the image in Photoshop but instead Ms. Audfaced (I don’t know her real name lol sorry!) will be explaining it sense she did it so well in her own tutorial! haha I’ve always wanted to do something like this and I didn’t expect it to be of a horror image! haha I still have directions I wrote in the video so don’t worry about getting lost! ^.^

If you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s Bellatrix Lestrange! =D Well I just want to be like my own Death Eater but Ballatrix is a good role model if you want to be a Death Eater! ^.^

I know not everyone is into Harry Potter and if you’re not, that’s fine and even if you are you might not want to be Bellatrix or a Death Eater for that matter, that’s coo man. I got some videos that are bound to spark some interest!

The first youtuber I want to share is Kandee Jonhson, she is my all time favorite makeup guru on Youtube of all time! Last year she published a set of makeup tutorials for Halloween and even went into a bit of costume development. She did The Queen of Hearts, The Madd Hatter, Edward Scissor Hands , Tinker Bell, Cinderella, Pocahontas, A Vampire look and much more!! She is amazing at coming up with idea for good costume looks and she’s about to upload more really really soon! So check her out and subscribe so you can see what she’s going to upload this year!

Another makeup guru is Audie or Audfaced on Youtube. She’s more into the horror and special effects type makeup. And her video editing is phenomenal! I love it! She’s a very nice and sweet girl and you would never expect her to be so good and transforming people into terrifying zombies and creatures of the night! Nevertheless, she is one amazing makeup artist and probably the best one for around this time of year! While Kandee might have a lighter side for those who are looking for that sort of thing this Halloween, Audfaced is the one you want if you want to be the scariest of them all!
